However, Ray J—who filed for divorce from Princess Love for the third time in 2024, after having their previous divorce filing dismissed by the court—believed that might change following the hearing, noting in the video that he hoped he would "see his kids" at the end of the day.
E! News reached out to the San Fernando Court House, as well as reps for Ray J and Princess Love for comment but has not heard back.
One week before his court appearance, Ray J shared that he had recently been hospitalized for pneumonia, which left his heart "only beating 25 percent."
"My health is not OK," Ray J said in the Jan. 25 Instagram video, "so I thank everybody for supporting and praying for me through everything I've been in the hospital."
Shortly after, the "One Wish" artist shared that he didn't believe he'd be alive by 2027 due to the issues that had made his heart "black."
"2027 is definitely a wrap for me," Ray J said during a Jan. 27 Instagram livestream before gesturing to his heart. "This is black. This is, like, done."
Still, he insisted that he planned on seeing a doctor about his problems, with the support of his sister Brandy and his parents Sonja Norwood and Willie Norwood.
"My momma and my daddy coming to pick me up tomorrow and they're gonna take me to the checkup," he added. "Shoutout to my momma and daddy, and shoutout to Brandy for looking out for me."
