Knowing what she does now, Halle—who shares 17-year-old daughter Nahla with ex Gabriel Aubry, as well as 12-year-old son Maceo-Robert with ex-husband Olivier Martinez—also revealed the advice she gave to three-time Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo. 

“'You goddamn deserve it, but I don’t know that it’s going to change your life,'” Halle recalled. “'It cannot be the validation for what you do, right?'”

Achievements aside, the Strictly Business actress recognizes her own talent. After all, she won the Worst Actress Razzie Award for her work in Catwoman and even showed up to the ceremony to accept the trophy parodying her emotional reaction to winning her Academy Award a few years prior. 

And over time, Halle has learned that accolades mean nothing in relation to the quality of her work. 

“I’ve always known that Oscar didn’t make me the best, she continued, “just like that Razzie doesn’t make me the worst.”

And at this point in her impressive acting journey, she’s just happy to still be nabbing roles that speak to her. 

 “As a Black woman, now almost 60, I still get to work in movies and do what I love,” she said. “I’m winning.”
