“We know she didn't just walk out of there, that we know,” he said during a Feb. 2 press conference, adding, “There are other things at the site, at the scene, that indicate there was a—she did not leave on her own.”
The sheriff also stressed that Nancy requires daily medication, of which she is currently without, that could prove “fatal” if she is unable to be found in a timely manner.
As for what Nancy’s disappearance means for the community at large, he noted there hasn’t been “any indication that the public is in danger,” confirming he doesn’t think there is an “active threat.”
He also confirmed that authorities have kept in contact with Savannah, who has been absent from Today since Nancy’s disappearance, and her security team.
And in response to whether the Today anchor has had any threats made against her, while the sheriff didn’t speculate, he noted, “We're not going to dismiss any angles for sure."
In the meantime, while authorities do all they can to locate Nancy, Savannah shared a request of the public.
“Please pray,” read a message the 54-year-old shared on Instagram Feb. 2, adding in her caption, "thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant.”
“raise your prayers with us,” Savannah continued, “and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment. we need you. bring her home.”
