Ikkis box office collection day 7: Agastya Nanda's film earns over Rs 24 crore.
Sriram Raghavan’s period war drama Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda, Jaideep Ahlawat, and late Dharmendra, has finished its opening week at the domestic box office at a decent figure. It earned Rs 24.25 crore after seven days despite competition from another patriotic film on the Indo-Pak conflict, Aditya Dhar’s period spy thriller Dhurandhar, which, on several occasions, earned more in a single day than what Ikkis garnered within its first week.
On Wednesday (day 7) at the domestic box office, Ikkis earned Rs 1.15 crore, which is its lowest single-day earnings yet. It was a marginal drop from its collection on Tuesday (day 6) at Rs 1.6 crore, which was a slight improvement on its Monday (day 5) earnings of Rs 1.35 crore. That was a drastic fall from its Sunday (day 4) collection of Rs 5 crore.
As per Sacnilk, that was a minor improvement on its Saturday (day 3) earnings of Rs 4.65 crore, which in turn, was a decent increase from its Friday (day 2) collection of Rs 3.5 crore. Ikkis scored its highest single-day earnings yet on its opening day when it earned Rs 7 crore on Thursday, on the occasion of New Year’s Day.
In comparison, Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, continues to earn more than Ikkis in a single day even in its fifth week at the domestic box office. Throughout this past week, in the last three days, it garnered more than Rs 4 crore each day. Ikkis managed to achieve that feat only on three days, which were either a weekend or a holiday on account of the New Year’s Day.
Dhurandhar, having earned over Rs 830 crore so far, as per its producer Jio Studios, has already emerged as the highest grossing Hindi film ever at the domestic box office. While that’s almost an unattainable benchmark for Ikkis, the much smaller film with a relatively new lead actor has managed to hold its own in front of the box-office tornado that was Dhurandhar.
Not too many films can claim to having done that, including Sameer Vidhwans’ romantic comedy Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, and Kapil Sharma-starrer comedy Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, which is now slated to re-release in cinemas for a second shot this Friday on January 9.
