Walking on the footprints of his uncle and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, whose party has joined hands with the Sharad Pawar-led NCP faction for both the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) elections, NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the BJP rule in Pimpri-Chinchwad and was even singled out Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge, accusing him of corruption.

On Thursday, Rohit shared stage with his father at two political rallies first time after the split in the NCP over two years ago. He addressed two election rallies alongside his uncle Ajit pawar at Sangvi and in Gharkul areas.

In his rallies and interactions with journalists, the MLA, like his uncle, was unsparing on Landge. ”BJP has taken the people of Pimpri-Chinchwad for a ride. They have indulged in widespread corruption. Be it in sterilisation of stray dogs, tendering process, water tankers.. or various purchases, they have indulged in corruption,” said Rohit Pawar, adding that Langde is neck deep in corruption.

Besides, Mahesh Landge, he also attacked BJP MLA Shankar Jagtap. ”Ajitdada will become the ‘Rocky Bhai’ like the one in KGF film. He will free the PCMC from the two MLAs. He will end their monopoly,” he said.

The MLA said party workers and leaders were demanding that both the NCP factions should come together in Pimpri-Chinchwad to end the BJP’s corruption ridden rule.

”When we discussed with local party leaders and workers, they told us that we should come together to end corruption in PCMC. The local leaders of BJP have indulged in corruption. They have formed rackets to loot PCMC of crores. Similar is the case in PMC…As a result, the ordinary citizens have suffered…We then came to an agreement that both the parties should come together to rescue PCMC.

We are now fighting the election unitedly against BJP…,” said Rohit Pawar.

”Even otherwise, I personally feel that Pawar family should remain together. Be it on our Hindu culture or Maharashtrian culture, a family has lot of significance…Even our scriptures have emphasised on a united family. That’s why we have come together…At least for the election sake, our family has come together. Our family should remain together always but everything is not possible in politics.”

Before Rohit Pawar arrived on the scene, Ajit Pawar had gone ballistic, targeting BJP rule in PCMC for alleged corruption. He has been severely critical of the Bhosari MLA while going soft on legislator Shankar Jagtap.

Though initially, Landge had avoided responding to the allegations by Ajit Pawar, however, over the last two days, he too has been attacking the Deputy Chief Minister. Landge asked Pawar to introspect and alleged that he too was involved in corruption.
