Bollywood actor Fatima Sana Shaikh recently opened up about her health routine, exercise preferences, and major diet changes over the years.
In a refreshingly candid moment, Fatima shared how her earlier eating habits were far from ideal. “Earlier, I would have pani puri every day. Mera dinner pani puri hota tha aur dessert pastry,” she said with a chuckle, during a chat that revealed just how far she’s come in her wellness journey.
Fatima, who shot to fame with films like Dangal and Ludo, didn’t shy away from admitting her former love for junk food and minimal exercise. However, she has now adopted a more mindful approach to both fitness and food. Speaking about her morning routine, she shared, “Morning rituals that I do for my health hai bullet coffee. So it’s coffee, black coffee with ghee, and you blend it. And it becomes really frothy. I don’t know if I do it for health or taste because I really like the taste. Actually, it’s for taste, not for health.”
Her honesty extended to her views on exercise, too. “I hate weight training. I love functional, because it’s high intensity. Cardio ki zarurat nahin padti, usi mein cardio ho jaata hai. Because lazy logon ko na jo cheezein jaldi khatam hoti hai wo acchi lagti hai. Main unmein se ek hoon,” she admitted.
Fatima’s shift from daily pani puri and pastry to a more structured routine reflects a growing awareness around lifestyle choices; a shift experts say is essential. Bharathi Kumar, Dietician at Fortis Hospital, Nagarbhavi, Bangalore, says, “You have to balance physical training and eating habits to be fit, create a holistic plan that integrates both aspects. Start by setting specific, achievable goals, such as exercising for 30 minutes, 3-4 times a week, and eating a balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins.”
She also emphasised that such a routine supports more than just weight loss. “Balancing physical training and eating habits can help improve overall health, increase energy levels, and support weight management. By combining regular exercise with a healthy diet, you can also enhance mental well-being, boost metabolism, and reduce the risk of chronic diseases,” she added.
