Calling a fitness-oriented lifestyle “addictive,” YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani shared his workout routine in an interaction with actor Soha Ali Khan. Talking about his massive weight loss journey, Chanchlani said, “I was at 130 kgs. I lost around 40 kgs, then another 5 kgs, and then I gained back my weight because I am trying to gain muscle. I am at 94 kg right now. I will go back to being in the 80s. But I will make sure that I am a little more muscular,” he said on Mashable India.

His fitness routine? “First some jogging, core, then weight training and 40 minutes of high-intensity cardio daily,” continued Chanchlani, adding that the incline bench press workout is one of his favourites. He further confessed that, at some point, when you diet so much, “I think a simple wheat roti or a paratha is also like a good cheat meal.”

Taking a cue from his candid confession, let’s understand all about sustainable transformation.

Chanchlani’s workout, which combines cardio and strength training to accelerate fat loss and build lean muscle, is extremely pertinent. “His regimen, including jogging and resistance exercises, strengthens major muscle groups and boosts metabolic rate. This combination supports not just weight loss but also improves fitness, stamina and posture. Regular movement also reinforces discipline and makes sustainable lifestyle habits easier to maintain,” said consultant dietitian and fitness expert Garima Goyal.

Chanchlani’s focus on a calorie deficit or consistently consuming slightly fewer calories than the body needs indicates how well his meals were planned to include high-quality protein, fibre and healthy fats, while refined carbohydrates were moderated.

Breakfast of boiled eggs or an omelette paired with sprouts, providing satiating protein and fibre. Lunch and dinner featuring lean protein such as grilled chicken with vegetables Minimum carbohydrates to support steady energy levels. Add a well-suited whey protein shake to help with muscle recovery after workouts.

A mindset of moderation rather than strict avoidance helps one stay consistent and enjoy the journey, both emotionally and physically. “Sustainable changes in body composition are driven by consistency, mindful eating and regular activity rather than extreme diets or short-term challenges.”
