Suniel Shetty recently got emotional at the audio launch of his son Ahan Shetty’s upcoming film Border 2. The actor opened up about Ahan’s struggle after his debut in 2021 with Milan Luthria’s Tadap and spoke candidly about how the young actor actually went through a difficult phase, after facing failure early on.
Speaking at the audio launch, Suniel had tears in his eyes as producer Bhushan Kumar was seen consoling him while he spoke about Ahan. Reflecting on his son’s journey, Suniel said, “It is his second film aur itni badi film milna… Bahut hi responsible film hai. When Ahan was doing the film, maine tabhi unse kaha tha ke ‘Ahan, it is not just uniform. Remember this’ (Getting such a big film is huge. It is a responsible film. When Ahan was shooting for the film, I told him ‘Ahan, it is not just uniform.’) I told him whatever you do, do it from your heart. I will always be indebted from a father’s point of view that they thought of my son for such a big film.”
Suniel further admitted that it was not easy for Ahan to keep going after taking a brief break following his acting debut. Opening up about that period, he said, “After his first film, there was a little break in (his life and career). You know, there’s always turmoil in our lives. Sab bolte hain ke Suniel Shetty ka beta hai kaam toh bahut hi milta hai (Everyone thinks that he is Suniel Shetty’s son and he would have got a lot of work). But somewhere or the other, there’s a lot that Ahan went through in life. But I am happy that he got Border 2 as his second film. Usse badiya film nahi mil sakti (He couldn’t have gotten a better film than that). And I just pray that he has done justice and the film works for all of us,” Suniel added.
Meanwhile, Suniel also expressed his wish to star in Border 2 himself. Recalling his experience with the first film, he said, “This film wouldn’t have been possible without Sunny Deol. In Border, when I got the script which said that my character would die, I was very happy, you know that I would die for the country, it is shown like that, but if my character would have been alive, I would have been able to star in Border 2 also.”
Earlier, Suniel had also expressed his anger over what he described as a negative campaign against Ahan. He had even threatened to hold a press conference where he would publicly reveal the names of those involved. Defending his son, Suniel had said, “They said that he has a 10-person entourage; people paid lots of money to get negative articles written about him. Do you think I don’t have connections? Do you think I can’t do the same thing?”
He further added, “All this negativity was orchestrated because Ahan wanted to do Border 2, and people wanted their films to take off and not Border 2. If this continues, I will hold a press conference and expose each and every person’s name. Jiski dhajjiyan udani hain, uda dunga.”
