Kannada actor Dhanush Raj, wife file complaints against each other alleging physical assault, dowry harassment

Kannada actor Dhanush Raj and his wife Arshita have entered into a legal battle after both filed police complaints against each other, levelling serious allegations. While Dhanush was reportedly the first to approach the authorities, accusing Arshita of physical assault, harassment, and issuing life threats, she later filed a counter-complaint against him over alleged dowry harassment and assault.

Claiming that the fight began when Arshita travelled abroad without informing him, NDTV reported, the actor stated she assaulted him when he confronted her about it. Dhanush alleged that Arshita even warned that she would send goons to harm him and eliminate him. Claiming that she threatened to kill herself and put the blame on him, he alleged that Arshita once injured herself by purposefully smashing her hand against a bathroom glass panel. He further maintained that he has been dealing with her harassment and threats for a long time. The Girinagar police in Bengaluru have filed an FIR and initiated an investigation.

Arshita has also filed her complaint at the same station, accusing Dhanush of dowry harassment, physical assault, and emotional abuse. Maintaining that they tied the knot on March 2, 2025, at Uttarahalli in Bengaluru, she claimed that her family gifted him 50g of gold jewellery on the occasion. Subsequently, she moved into Dhanush’s Hosakerehalli house and began living with him and his family. While all seemed well initially, Arshita alleged that her husband and in-laws’ attitude changed eventually, and they began demanding an additional dowry of Rs 8 lakh. When she informed them that her parents couldn’t afford that, Arshita stated that they verbally abused and humiliated her.

She also accused Dhanush, known for his appearance in the movie Shivaji Surathkal, of infidelity, adding that he physically assaulted her when she questioned him about it, before sending her back to her parents’ home. This matter was later settled at a panchayat. She further mentioned that he stopped responding to her calls and messages after travelling to Ahmedabad for work in November 2025. Dhanush has reportedly appeared in short films and television serials as well.
