The Telangana Government is gearing up with a comprehensive PowerPoint Presentation (PPT) to “expose” the main Opposition Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) over the policies adopted in the Irrigation sector. Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy would brief the Ministers, MLAs and other senior leaders about various aspects of irrigation projects in the State in the presence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday (January 1, 2026) late afternoon — a day before the Winter Session of the Assembly is set to resume on Friday (January 2, 2025).

The ruling Congress has decided to educate people on the efforts it has been making to secure the rights of the State on the river waters ever since it took over the reins. The Congress and the BRS had been trading charges and counter-charges over the alleged injustice meted out to the State in river water sharing in the past few days with former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao threatening to launch an agitation over the Government’s failure to complete the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme claiming the BRS Government had completed 80% works of the projects and the Congress cold shouldered the PRLIS which was billed as lifeline for Mahbubnagar, Rangareddy and Nalgonda districts.

Irrigation projects in the State, particularly Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS), and sharing of Godavari and Krishna waters between Telangana and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh are likely to be the focus of the presentation on Thursday. The Irrigation Minister is likely to brief the party’s elected representatives about the steps taken by the Congress Government so that they could effectively articulate the situation during the debate planned in the State legislature in a couple of days.

Mr. Revanth Reddy earlier asked his Cabinet colleagues and party legislators to be ready with documents and details on Krishna water sharing to ‘expose’ the ‘historic injustice’ done to the State under the BRS government. The Irrigation issues could dominate the Assembly proceedings.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Cabinet Ministers, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs, Assembly and Council members and others may be present during the presentation.
