The Raja Saab Movie Release Date: Prabhas starrer The Raja Saab is all set to hit theatres on January 9, strategically timed for the Sankranti festival window. The Telugu horror-comedy will release in multiple languages and is expected to draw strong footfalls owing to Prabhas’ massive fan following.

Interestingly, The Raja Saab will face stiff competition at the box office as it clashes with Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, making the festive weekend a high-stakes battle between two major stars.

Prabhas is eyeing a strong comeback with an exciting lineup that includes The Raja Saab, followed by Salaar 2 and the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD.

According to a report by Koimoi, Prabhas could register two major opening-day records if The Raja Saab manages to collect around Rs 76 crore net in India on Day 1. Trade expectations suggest a bumper opening, especially in the Telugu states, driven by the festive release and the actor’s star power.

The Raja Saab is set for a direct box office showdown with Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth. The film holds emotional significance for fans as it is Vijay’s last film before his full-time political entry.

As per BookMyShow data, with two days left for release, over 8.44 lakh users have shown interest in Jana Nayagan, while around 5.70 lakh users have marked The Raja Saab. As of January 7 afternoon, Vijay’s film appears to be leading the pre-release buzz.

The Prabhas-starrer will hit the screens on the occasion of Sankranti.

The Hindi version of The Raja Saab is witnessing muted buzz. According to a Pinkvilla report, expected Hindi pre-sales have been revised downward from Rs 5–8 crore to approximately Rs 4–7 crore, indicating comparatively lower traction in the North Indian markets.

In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, proposals have been submitted for premium premiere ticket prices, going up to Rs 943 in single screens and Rs 1,180 in multiplexes, inclusive of taxes. These proposed rates have sparked debate among regular moviegoers.

For regular shows starting January 9, ticket prices are expected to remain within a standard festive range: approximately Rs 250–Rs 450 in multiplexes and Rs 250–Rs 300 in single screens, subject to local approvals.

As reported earlier by Bollywood Hungama, the CBFC granted The Raja Saab a U/A 16+ certificate on December 24, 2025. Most dialogues and romantic scenes were retained without cuts.

However, two gory scenes were modified. A sequence showing blood being washed off the floor was changed to black-and-white, while a beheading scene was trimmed by four seconds and reduced to brief flash visuals.

The Raja Saab reportedly has a runtime exceeding 3 hours. Coincidentally, Vijay’s Jana Nayagan is also said to be lengthy, with a reported duration of 3 hours and 3 minutes.

With only a few days left for release, trade portal Sacnilk reports that the overseas market is currently dominated by Jana Nayagan. The Vijay starrer has already crossed $3.5 million (Rs 32+ crore) in overseas pre-sales for opening day, including premieres.

In comparison, The Raja Saab has so far registered approximately $1 million (Rs 9 crore) in overseas advance bookings for Day 1 and premieres, making its overseas prospects more challenging amid the clash.

Apart from Prabhas, The Raja Saab features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, Riddhi Kumar, and Zarina Wahab. The film is written and directed by Maruthi and produced by People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment.
