It is everywhere – from social media reels to playlists and pubs. Flipperachi’s song “Fa9la”, which features in the recently released Dhurandhar, has taken India (and the world) by storm. While admitting that he knew it would be a big moment for his career, the Bahraini rapper says the love and support for his number was unexpected. In an interview with The Indian Express, he also opens up about penning the song, what it means, his plans to visit India, and more. Read the edited excerpts below: Flipperachi: It’s an amazing achievement! I’m super proud of all the work the team and I have put in over the years to reach this stage, and I’m overwhelmed by all the love I’ve been receiving from India. It’s something I definitely don’t take lightly.
Flipperachi: The production reached out to my team because they felt the song was a perfect match for the scene, and the rest is history.
Flipperachi: I knew it would be a big moment for me in my career, but I didn’t expect the magnitude of the support and love the song has received.
Flipperachi: It’s a fun song that’s basically a series of dances put together, in a nutshell. I wrote this in 2024, and it came out in May and went viral back then. “Fa9la” or “Fasla”, loosely translated, means a vibe/letting loose. When we say it in Arabic, it basically means just having fun.
Flipperachi: Oh, definitely. I love Indian music and culture, so I really appreciate the Indian community’s response to my music.
Flipperachi: Yes, definitely. I love the cast – it’s a line-up of Bollywood legends! I haven’t had the pleasure of speaking with any of the cast yet, so hopefully soon.
Flipperachi: It’s the story of almost any artist, especially one from a small country where being an artist isn’t a common career choice. There’s been ups and downs along the way for sure, but it’s been a rewarding journey too. I started rapping at a young age, but I never dreamed I would make it to this point. The journey was filled with challenges, including naysayers and negative criticism, but I’m grateful I never let any of it stop me from doing what I love.
Flipperachi: Yes, we’re working on setting up some collabs that I think people are going to love, but that’s all I can say right now.

Flipperachi: Soon! We’re cooking it, and I hope to announce it soon.
Flipperachi: All I can say is that it was perfect – the song choice, the cast, the scene, the dance. Everything came together to create an iconic moment!
