Rekha blesses Agastya Nanda at the premiere of his film Ikkis.
The makers of Sriram Raghavan’s upcoming period military drama Ikkis held a special screening on Monday in memory of late actor Dharmendra, who plays Arjun Khetarpal’s father in the film. Khetarpal, who was martyred in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War, is played by Agastya Nanda, the maternal grandson of Dharmendra’s former co-stars Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan.
Another former co-star of Dharmendra, Rekha attended the screening in the late actor’s memory. As she entered, she got emotional seeing a huge poster of Agastya at the red carpet. Rekha then approached the poster and gave a flying kiss to Agastya, blessing him ahead of the release of his theatrical debut. She then posed for the paparazzi before entering the venue.
A moment filled with warmth and affection as Rekha blesses her most beloved Agastya Nanda at the special screening of Ikkis. Rekha wore dark glasses to quietly veil her emotions — a rare sight at such events, as she usually keeps her expressive eyes uncovered.#yogenshah pic.twitter.com/L21xIxoidi

Rekha had a long working equation with Amitabh in the 1970s. She has also been quite vocal about her fondness for the actor. She has also spoken about the respectful relationship she shares with Jaya, whom she lovingly addresses as ‘Didibhai’. Rekha worked with Amitabh and Jaya in Yash Chopra’s Silsila. The film, based on the story of an extra marital affair, was seen as a casting coup back in the day.
Amitabh, who watched Agastya’s film at a private screening, wrote on his blog, “Emotions flow.. As do they tonight when you witness the grandson excel in IKKIS .. the time when his Mother, Shweta is being rushed to Breach Candy Hospital as she encounters final labour pains .. his birth .. holding him barely a few hours later, and discussing whether his eyes were blue .. to the time when he grew a bit and holding him in my arms, and he fiddles with my beard .. to his growth .. to the final personal decision of his to be an actor, and tonight to see him in frame, unable to take my eyes off each time he fills the frames of the film.”
Ikkis, produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, also stars Jaideep Ahlawat and Akshay Kumar’s niece Simar Bhatia. It marks the theatrical debut of Simar and Agastya, who made his acting debut with Zoya Akhtar’s 2023 period coming-of-age musical The Archies on Netflix India. Ikkis is slated to release in cinemas this Thursday on January 1, 2026.
