Christmas is the season of giving, and Air India made sure its passengers felt the festive cheer in a truly memorable way. A video that has now gone viral on Instagram captures the holiday spirit at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport, where travellers waiting at the baggage carousel were greeted with a surprise.
Instead of suitcases rolling out on the conveyor belt, Air India passengers were delighted to find gift boxes waiting for them. Adding to the festive mood, a Santa Claus was seen walking around the terminal, spreading cheer as surprised travellers looked on.
The video was shared by digital creator Sanjana Nair, who documented the heartwarming moment on her Instagram account. She revealed that each gift came with a personalised note bearing the passenger’s name. Showing her own present on camera, the note read, “BLR airport wishes you a Merry Christmas, Sanjana Nair.”
The clip also features an airport announcer wishing everyone a Merry Christmas over the microphone, prompting cheers and smiles from those present. Later, passengers were seen clicking photos with Santa Claus, soaking in the joyful atmosphere.
One user joked, “Imagine the other airline passengers waiting to collect luggage from different belts. Sad.” Another curious viewer commented, “At least tell us what the gift was”.
A third quipped, “When your luggage landed at a different airport, this is the only backup plan.” Sharing disappointment, another user wrote, “Well, I just travelled in Air India today from Vijayawada to Delhi, and I did not receive anything like that.” Meanwhile, one passenger reassured others, saying, “I was there on AI 2727, they gave us too.”
Interestingly, this wasn’t a one-off festive gesture. Just a week earlier, Air India passengers arriving in Mumbai from Bengaluru were treated to a similar surprise. At Mumbai International Airport’s Terminal 2, travellers waiting for their bags were instead met with neatly arranged gift boxes on the carousel. The festive activation, curated by Marriott Bonvoy, featured personalised hampers thoughtfully tagged with each passenger’s seat number, turning an ordinary arrival into a moment of holiday magic.
