Telangana’s tourism sector recorded a major breakthrough in 2025, emerging as a leading global destination with ₹22,324 crore in investment commitments and an employment potential for nearly 90,000 people, according to Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao.

The Minister said the transformation was driven by the Telangana Tourism Policy 2025–2030, which laid the foundation for integrated and sustainable tourism growth. The investments include ₹15,279 crore from 30 projects finalised during the Tourism Conclave 2025, and an additional ₹7,045 crore mobilised through the Telangana Rising Global Summit.

According to the Minister, several international players, including Foodlink Global Centre, Sarus Infra and Smart Mobility, have committed to large-scale projects in convention, cultural and wellness tourism.

Telangana secured unprecedented global visibility with the Miss World 2025 pageant in Hyderabad, and it significantly enhanced the State’s international branding, projecting it as a modern, safe and visitor-friendly destination, the Minister argued.

Cultural celebrations further put Telangana in the global spotlight, with the Bathukamma festival entering the Guinness World Records for the tallest floral arrangement at 19.44 metres and the largest folk dance performance involving 1,354 women.

Tourist safety emerged as a key priority with the launch of a dedicated Tourist Police force, comprising an 80-member specialised unit. The trained force has already set benchmarks in visitor security by successfully handling emergency rescues and recovering lost property at major tourist and heritage locations.

On the infrastructure front, 78 out of 123 State tourism projects were completed during the year. In addition, projects worth ₹275 crore are progressing under Central schemes such as Swadesh Darshan 2.0 and PRASHAD, including the development of an Eco-Tourism Zone at Ananthagiri Hills and an Experiential Zone at Bhongir Fort.

The Minister said that the full operationalisation of a Heli-Tourism circuit connecting Hyderabad, Somasila and Srisailam, and the development of world-class premium wedding destinations at Nagarjunasagar, Baswapur and Somasila, targeting the growing global destination wedding market are the targets for the year 2026.
