RRB Group D Recruitment 2026: Indian Railways has issued a short notification announcing the upcoming recruitment of 22,000 Group D Level-1 posts. The detailed notification and online application window are expected to open by January 2026 third-week on the official recruitment portal of RRB ta rrbapply.gov.in.
According to the notice, the online application process will commence on January 21 and conclude on February 20. Candidates applying for the RRB Group D Level-1 posts must be between 18 and 40 years of age as per the prescribed cut-off date.
To be eligible, candidates must have passed High School (Class 10) from a recognised board. In certain technical posts, candidates holding ITI certificates may be given preference, depending on post-specific requirements.
Selected candidates will be placed in Level-1 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) pay matrix. The initial monthly salary is expected to range between Rs 18,000 and Rs 35,000, depending on the nature of the post, allowances, and place of posting.
The application fee is Rs 500 for candidates belonging to General, OBC, and EWS categories. Candidates from SC, ST, PwD categories and all women applicants will be required to pay a reduced fee of Rs 250, as per the existing fee structure.
The recruitment process will include multiple stages, starting with a Computer-Based Test (CBT), followed by a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and a Medical Examination. Candidates must qualify at each stage to be considered for final appointment.
The total number of vacancies across various railway zones and production units is expected to be around 22,000, though the final post-wise and zone-wise breakup will be provided in the detailed notification. The short notice is indicative in nature and meant to give candidates an early overview of the recruitment drive.
