How Pregnant Hailee Steinfeld Found a Winning Teammate in Buffalo Bills Quarterback Josh Allen

Though, of course, the 29-year-old actress isn't the only one heaving up game-winners.

Named NFL MVP last season, the athlete acknowledged in June his accolades have "all been big," but "none other than marrying my best friend."

But if he was going to top that moment, it makes sense that he and Hailee were going to do so as a team, the duo revealing in December that they're expecting their first child together.

Their announcement came in the form of a video Hailee posted on her Beau Society Substack, featuring Josh kissing her bare pregnant belly.

As for their parenting game plan, the couple hinted weeks later that they just might have a pitch-perfect name. In a Jan. 2 post to her Substack, Hailee shared an image of a knit sweater embroidered with the name, "Baby Beau," a nod to her childhood nickname. Her parents having been torn on Hailee versus Bailee before her 1996 birth, "they started calling me 'Hailee Beau Bailee,'" she recalled to fans in a November newsletter, "which we shortened to Beau."

And they've reached that place together.

As Josh put it in June, "She makes everything easier, so I don't really focus on the other stuff. That was the most important decision I'll make in my life—and I made the right one."

And it's not as if the proposal was some wild Hail Mary.

"It feels unbelievable to be engaged to someone who is so special and loving and caring and gorgeous and fun and happy…" Josh told Hailee in a December 2024 edition of Beau Society. "I can keep going if you want me to keep going…"

While fans could keep listening to the athlete spill all the tea on the proposal, the couple is keeping exact details of how he popped the question private for now. Still, he was willing to weigh in on some of the pre-game excitement.

"The funniest thing was that we woke up and were getting ready for brunch and you jumped on the bed and said 'Can we get married already?!? What are you waiting for??!'" Josh continued. "I replied, 'Just give me a little more time.' Little did you know I was about to propose to you…"

And he’s just glad nobody fumbled the surprise.

"I was very nervous," the University of Wyoming alum added. "I think I was most nervous about you finding out about the proposal. It was hard to keep secrets from you and have other people in your life keep secrets from you. Then multiple times throughout the day a song would come on and I would tear up thinking about how special our day was going to be."

"I feel so lucky that [my fans] care enough about me to know what I'm doing every second of every day, but I think that sometimes it's hard for people in general to realize that there are no boundaries to a person's life and personal life," she told Us Weekly in 2018. "I am very private person. I do love that I have the opportunity to share with them what I'm comfortable with and they're there to listen and support me."

And in this season of life, she's leaning even harder into her off-camera existence.

"What we do is so unpredictable, and his job is on such a strict schedule," she explained to Variety in October of their equally demanding careers. "So it’s actually a blessing—I try to organize my time so I can be where he is."

With Josh busy taking the field, "this time of year, I get to hunker down, slow down, support him and live life," she continued. "When the offseason rolls around, it’s go-time for me."

And though Sinners' success means she'll be on the roster for a slew of award shows, she's learned to appreciate having the occasional time out.

"I’ve never lived this part of life before—outside of my work," she admitted. "I’ve gotten a lot better at understanding what it means to slow down and to share that with someone."

So, huddle up, because this is the couple's route to baby in photos: Following Josh Allen's breakup with longtime girlfriend Brittany Williams, the Buffalo Bills quarterback stepped out for dinner in NYC with Hailee Steinfeld.

Two months later, the duo confirmed their relationship while kissing on vacation in Mexico.

The Edge of Seventeen star and the NFL player went on a romantic outing in matching khaki outfits during Paris Fashion Week.

The NFL star made the couple's romance Instagram official, including their glimpse of the Eiffel Tower in his July 23 photo dump.

Included in that same post, the "Starving" singer squeezed in for a photo with Josh's family.

"Mr. Hard Launch," as reporter Kay Adams called him on her Up & Adams show, bashfully admitted "we love love" when asked about his and Hailee's relationship.

Just a few months after their engagement, Josh and Hailee officially made their red carpet debut at the NFL Honors, where he was named MVP. And during his acccepance speech, he gave her a heartfelt shoutout.

"You’ve been my rock and my best friend," he told her. "I would not be standing on this stage if it weren’t for you.”

They said "I do" in a stunning California wedding ceremony, where she donned a strapless bridal gown with elbow-length gloves.

The couple announced they're expecting their first child with a snowy maternity shoot in her Beau Society Substack.
