The Sonipat unit of the Haryana Special Task Force (STF) on Wednesday secured the deportation of wanted gangster and Lawrence Bishnoi gang member Aman Kumar alias Aman Bhainswal from the United States, marking its sixth major deportation since 2025 and the second from America.
Bhainswal, a resident of Bhainswal Kalan village in Sonipat district, was taken into STF custody upon his arrival at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport a little after 3pm. He will be produced in court on Thursday.
According to STF officers, Bhainswal runs his own gang and has ties with the Rohit Godara gang. He operates primarily in Sonipat, Rohtak, Jhajjar and the Delhi-NCR, they added.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in a statement, said: “The subject [Bhainswal] is a notorious criminal and key member of an organized criminal gang, namely the ‘Lawrence Bishnoi’ Gang. The subject was earlier arrested in India and was later granted bail. The subject, however, did not face trial and subsequently absconded.” He was traced and geolocated in the US, the CBI added.
“He faces 10 criminal cases, registered in Haryana and Delhi, related to offences such as murder, attempt to murder, extortion, firings and violations under the Arms Act, Indian Penal Code, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Passport Act,” an STF officer said.
He was declared a proclaimed offender on March 18 last year in an FIR dating back to 2016 at the Baroda police station in Sonipat. An Interpol Red Corner Notice and Look Out Circular were issued against him later that year, in coordination with the CBI, and the Union Home and External Affairs ministries.
“Investigations revealed that Bhainswal fled from India to Kuwait on June 20, 2024, using a fraudulently obtained passport in the name of Aman Kumar that showed him as the son of some Naresh Kumar and a resident of East Delhi,” the STF officer added.
The previous deportation from the US was that of Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakha — also a Lawrence Bishnoi gang member — in October last year. Lakha (25) is a close associate of gangster Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of notorious jailed gangster Lawrence.
