“With the world feeling complex and unpredictable right now, people want clothes that are comforting,” she said.
“Comforting clothes often feel soft, voluminous, or oversized. Whether that’s a suit or baggy jeans, I don’t see that bigger silhouette going anywhere.”
We’ve rounded up a few oversized styles below that perfectly capture the trend.
We asked Erin about the triangle scarf and balaclava trend that's been happening all fall and winter. And while she pointed out that they are in fact, seasonal, she also said there's definitely a reason behind why so many people have been leaning into wearing them.
"In terms of trends, I always try to understand why things are trending as opposed to just, like, this is what's trending. I loved the scarves for that reason, though," she said. "It's literally a blanket that you're wrapping yourself with. It's comforting. And it's feminine, you know? And I think it's cool for women, especially right now, to own their femininity, which, like, we are powerful because of our femininity."
And yes—if you’re wondering whether wide-leg and baggy jeans will continue their reign in 2026, Erin is confident they will.
“Supersized clothes, when done with the right proportions, can give you a supersized boost in your mood,” she explained. “If you need to feel a little bigger when you walk into a room, it’s not just about power—it’s about a mindset shift.”
At the core of all these trends, she says, is intention. Dressing, for her, always comes back to how you want to feel—and why you’re investing in certain pieces. “It all centers around intention,” Erin said.
That philosophy even extends beyond fashion. The stylist shared that her partnership with Motorola has made her think more deeply about how the things we invest in serve our lives—not just aesthetically, but emotionally.
"For me, like, partnering with Motorola has been interesting. Maybe it's super trendy to have a Motorola or a Razr now, and it should be, but it's more like intentionally, how is this serving me and making my life feel like it's in more alignment? Whatever you invest in, I think you should consider, what do I need? How do I want to feel?" she said.
Looking ahead to spring and beyond, Erin sees fashion leaning into something even brighter: joy. “On the spring runways, we saw so many pops of red, playful prints, and joyful accents,” she said.
“There’s a real movement toward what feels joyful, and I love that. Fashion should always feel joyful.”
