Officers added that the accused allegedly warned that he knew several women and could implicate the victim in false rape cases.

A doctor was arrested on Sunday for allegedly impersonating a senior official in the Health Department in Haryana to blackmail a property dealer in Gurgaon with a false rape case, said police. Identified as Krishna Kumar Jaildar (42), a resident of Manwas village in Nuh district, the accused had earlier served at the state government hospitals in Panchkula and Gurgaon. But he was suspended, said officers.

Apprehended from Panchkula by a team from the Sector-50 police station in Gurgaon, he is accused of orchestrating a conspiracy with his wife to file a false rape case against the complainant to pressure him into paying a large sum. Police said the complainant, a resident of Gurgaon, first came into contact with the accused in 2023. The accused, who went by the name KK, and his associate Tinu allegedly began frequenting the businessman’s office during the treatment of Tinu’s father. “Over time, the accused borrowed money from the complainant on various pretexts, including a seized bank account and vehicle servicing, amounting to approximately ₹5-6 lakh. When the complainant demanded that the money be repaid, the accused refused and began threatening him by claiming to be a deputy director in the Health Department with high-level connections,” a police spokesperson said on Monday.

“On October 24, 2025, the same woman, along with the accused, filed a written rape complaint against the businessman and his friend at the women’s police station. Tinu later informed the property dealer that the accused was demanding ₹7 lakh initially but then increased the amount to ₹16 lakh to withdraw the complaint and refused to accept payments in a bank account,” the spokesperson added.

A case has now been registered at the Sector-50 police station. “During questioning, the accused told the police that he was a suspended MBBS doctor who had previously served at government hospitals in Panchkula and Gurgaon. He admitted to having financial transactions with the complainant and conspiring with his wife to file the false rape complaint to avoid repaying the borrowed money and to extort a substantial sum by pressuring him to get the case withdrawn,” an officer said.

The accused was produced in a court on Monday, which remanded him to two days of police custody. Officers said the probe is ongoing to identify any other individuals involved in the conspiracy.

In a statement, the Gurgaon Police emphasised that the misuse of laws through false and fabricated complaints “not only wastes police resources but also hampers justice for genuine victims”. It underlined that the force is committed to strict action against those who abuse the legal system for personal gain.
