IShowSpeed, one of the world’s most popular YouTubers, began his Africa tour on Monday, leaving the internet abuzz. The 28-day-long trip, named Speed Does Africa, will see the YouTuber visiting 20 countries and live-streaming his adventures.
The 20-year-old YouTuber started his tour in Angola, competing with his fans in various activities. In one of the viral videos, IShowSpeed can be seen performing pull-ups, competing with one of his fans in the country, and eventually losing the challenge. However, he convinces the fan to race with him, as he is known for his athletic skills.

With over two million views, the video has prompted a flurry of reactions. “I know some who will beat ishowpeed in race so badly that he will have to change his username to “IThoughtIShowSpeed”. He should try racing Mbappe for a start,” an X user wrote. “Speed a sore loser if I was the other guy I would’ve said but this not racing my friend I won bye,” another user commented.
“Looks like Speed found out that “pull ups” can also mean running away from a challenge! Can’t wait for the rematch on the treadmill!” a third user reacted. “he is fast, not strong,” a fourth user chimed in.
According to reports, IShowSpeed is slated to visit Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Egypt, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Liberia, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Born Darren Watkins Jr, iShowSpeed rose to fame with his livestreams. He began by streaming NBA 2K, but viewers weren’t drawn in by his skill; they came for his over-the-top reactions. The barking, yelling, unfiltered takes, and meltdown-worthy moments quickly turned him into a viral figure, with TikTok amplifying his popularity, chopping his streams into short, explosive clips that spread across the internet.
