Amazon has announced that Alexa+, its AI-revamped digital assistant, is now available on the web for select users.

A new website called Alexa[dot]com was officially launched by the tech giant at CES 2026, which is taking place from January 6 to 9 at Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. The AI overhauled version of the digital assistant first made its debut in 2025 and can be used to ask more complex queries as well as create AI-generated content, plan trip itineraries, and more.

“Alexa+ doesn’t just provide information, it’s designed to take action. It can help you complete countless tasks: managing your to-do list, updating your family calendar, controlling your smart home, making reservations, and so much more,” Amazon said in a blog post.

Amazon has also upgraded Alexa using AI so that the digital assistant can provide answers to queries based on user context. It also recalls previous chats and user preferences. However, the web version of Alexa+ is only available to Early Access customers who need to log into their Amazon account in order to start a conversation.

Besides the web, Alexa+ has already been rolled out on Amazon’s Echo devices. Over 600 million Alexa-enabled devices have been purchased across the world so far, the company said.

Amazon on Tuesday also announced that it is redesigning the Alexa mobile app to make it more ‘agent-forward’.

The company said it decided to launch the web version of Alexa+ in response to user requests. While the roll out is currently limited to a few customers, it paves the way for users to access the next-generation AI assistant without needing an Amazon smart home device.

Alexa+ also comes to the web at a time when tech giants are increasingly betting on the new wave of AI-powered intelligence to deliver smarter voice assistants that have been rebuilt from the ground up around large language models (LLMs). They are designed to be more conversational, better understand user context, and take actions on their own.

In October 2025, Google launched a suite of new AI-powered features for Google’s smart home hardware and software called ‘Gemini For Home’. It also introduced Gemini Live, which lets users have a more natural real-time conversation with the AI chatbot, including interruptions and follow-up questions. Apple is also expected to launch its delayed AI-revamped Siri this year.

“76 per cent of what customers are using Alexa+ for no other AI can do. And I think that’s a really interesting statistic about Alexa+ for two reasons,” Daniel Rausch, VP of Alexa and Echo at Amazon, was quoted as saying by TechCrunch.

“Customers count on Alexa to do unique things. You know, you can send a photograph of an old family recipe to Alexa and then talk through the recipe as you’re cooking it in your kitchen, substitute ingredients for what you have around the home, and get the job all the way done,” he said.

“97 per cent of Alexa devices support Alexa+, and we see now in adoption from customers that they’re using Alexa across all those many years and many generations of devices. We support all of Alexa’s original capabilities, the tens of thousands of services and devices that Alexa was integrated with already are carried forward to the Alexa+ experience,” Rausch added.

The newly launched Alexa+ website features a navigation sidebar for quicker access to the most-used Alexa features, enabling users to pick up where they left off on certain tasks such as reviewing shopping lists and checking their calendar dor appointments.

Of course, users will have to provide access to their emails, calendars, and personal documents in order for Alexa+ to provide contextualised answers and carry out specific actions like managing schedules, planning meals, etc.

“Alexa+ can extract the key details from documents, add appointments and information to your calendar, and recall specific details on demand, whether it’s remembering when the dog was last vaccinated, tracking the kids’ soccer schedules, or keeping tabs on upcoming social events,” Amazon said.

“Your smart home controls are in the same window, right next to your chat with Alexa. You can instantly switch from chatting to checking who’s at the front door, turning on the lights, adjusting your thermostat, unlocking the door for a family member, or checking your security cameras while you’re away, all without touching a phone or saying a word,” it further said.

Recently, Amazon said it has been integrating more services such as Expedia, Yelp, and Square with Alexa+, along with existing app integrations such as Uber, Suno, and Ticketmaster.
