Yash Toxic teaser lands in controversy.

The Aam Aadmi Party’s Women’s Wing submitted a formal complaint to the Karnataka State Women’s Commission over the obscene visuals in the latest teaser of Yash and Kiara Advani starrer Toxic.

AAP state secretary Usha Mohan, in a letter to the Women’s Commission, statent that the teaser contains “obscene and explicit” content that could harm the “social well-being of women and children”. She claimed that the scenes were released in the public domain without any age-related warning, and said they “degrade the dignity of women” and “insult Kannada culture.”

Citing the teaser’s adverse impact on society—particularly on minors—the party urged the commission to intervene immediately and direct state authorities to ban the teaser and have it removed from social media platforms.

The letter, sent on behalf of the Aam Aadmi Party’s women’s wing, further appealed to the commission to treat the matter seriously and take prompt action to “uphold the cultural and moral values of the state.”

Ever since the teaser was released on January 8, it has received mixed responses. While fans hailed its stylised setting and vibe, a section of the internet pointed out how Toxi director Geetu Mohandas “objectified women.” Geetu had replied to the trolls through a cryptic story on Instagram. She wrote, “Chilling while people figure out female pleasure, consent, women playing systems, etc, etc.”

Ram Gopal Varma also lauded Geetu Mohandas for the teaser. He wrote on X, “After seeing the @TheNameIsYash starring trailer of #Toxic, I do not doubt that @GeethuMohandas_ is the ultimate symbol of Women Empowerment. No Male director is Man enough in comparison to this Woman. I still can’t believe she shot this.” Sandeep Reddy Vanga also lauded the teaser on X and wrote, “TOXIC teaser just knocked me out. Style. Attitude. Chaos.”

Other than Yash, Toxic stars Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, Kiara Advani, and Tara Sutaria in important roles. What also makes the film all the more anticipated is its on-screen clash with the blockbuster Dhurandhar’s sequel. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown Ups is slated to release on March 19, 2026.
