As he added, that's "the biggest honor I could ever ask for."
Season one of the hit focused on 13-year-old Jamie (Owen Cooper), who was suspected of killing his classmate Katie Leonard (Emilia Holliday) after she rejected his romantic advances.
And for those who watched, well, Stephen has an ask.
"I want to say to every parent, please give your kid a massive cuddle," he added. "Tell them how much you love them and listen to them when they want to talk to you. Make sure the bedroom door's always open and make sure you communicate with each other."
Stephen wasn't the only Adolescence star to take home gold, either. Owen—whose character ultimately pleaded guilty to the murder—became the youngest star to win Best Supporting Actor in a TV series for his role.
"I think it's the most proudest I've ever been," he shared with reporters backstage. "We made it with love and it was a special show, but never in a million years did we think we'd be here, the Emmys, the Critics Choice Awards, even in this continent, really. We're all, as the cast and crew, just so grateful to be here."
