The Telangana government’s prestigious initiative, the Young India Skill University, has reached another significant milestone by training over 1,000 students by December 2025, within a short span of its inception.

Established to equip Intermediate and Degree students with job-ready skills, the university has emerged as a notable institution in the skill education sector by achieving this target in record time.

The university is currently offering skill-based training programmes in sectors such as Logistics, Healthcare, Life Sciences, Pharmaceuticals, Banking and Financial Services, and Information Sciences. Through short-term and certification courses, students are being trained with industry-relevant skills to enable immediate employment upon course completion.

Several leading organisations, including Microsoft, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, AIG Hospitals, Apollo Hospitals, and GMR Cargo, have partnered with the university. With proactive support from the State government, these companies are providing internships, practical training, and employment opportunities to students, officials said.

S. Swapna Sirasanagandala, who joined Dr. Reddy’s Pharma Associate Apprentice Course, said the six-month programme offered strong hands-on practical exposure along with valuable on-the-job training. “Apprenticeship stipend and placement was provided after successful course completion,” she said.

Seelam Nikhil, a Supply Chain Certification Course student, joined 09 Solutions as a Functional Consultant intern with a monthly stipend of ₹30,000. Y. Tanya Prakash, Endoscopy Technician student — who got her training from the AIG Hospitals and was placed there — says it has been a game-changer for her career. Similar is the experience of P. Sujeeth Alex, who got selected by GMR Air Cargo Hyderabad after the Key Consignor Executive Course.

The university is also preparing to launch Degree and Postgraduate programmes from the 2026–27 academic year with a job-guarantee-oriented approach.

The university was set up at the initiative of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, and its foundation stone was laid on August 1, 2024. It is run under the Public–Private Partnership (PPP) model.

The Chief Minister serves as the Chancellor of the University, while Anand Mahindra is the Chairman of the Board. The university is headed by Vice-Chancellor V.L.V.S.S. Subbarao.

Construction of the permanent campus at Future City is underway, spanning 57.8 acres. The campus will feature 43 classrooms, a 600-bed hostel, and a state-of-the-art laboratory block covering 84,000 sft. The government has set a target to complete Phase-1 of the campus by March 2026. Courses are now offered from a temporary campus at IIIT Hyderabad.
