Dhurandhar is undoubtedly the biggest Indian film of the year. Despite entering its fourth week in theatres, the film shows no signs of slowing down at the box office, with the ongoing holiday season only adding to its momentum. Reportedly made on a budget of Rs 250 crore, the film has already crossed the Rs 1,100 crore mark worldwide. If rumours are to be believed, the makers have also secured a lucrative OTT deal worth Rs 130 crore with Netflix—though the amount reportedly covers both parts of the franchise.

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Netflix has acquired the digital streaming rights of Dhurandhar and its sequel, which is scheduled for release in March, for a combined Rs 130 crore.

A source told the publication, “Netflix has paid Rs 130 crore for the streaming rights of Dhurandhar. This includes both parts. Hence, one can say that the rights were sold for around Rs 65 crore each for Dhurandhar: Part 1 and Part 2.”

The source further claimed that the deal is considered fair at a time when OTT acquisition prices are reportedly declining. “Nevertheless, this is a huge figure in today’s times when OTT prices have crashed. It is also a significant shot in the arm for Ranveer Singh, as this is his biggest OTT deal yet, if we consider the combined amount paid for both parts of Dhurandhar.”

However, Reddit users seem unconvinced.

Following the news going viral on social media, several users argued that Rs 130 crore is “too little” for a film of Dhurandhar’s scale and box office success. One user wrote, “Isn’t that less for two movies? For one movie, some big ones are getting more than Rs 150 crore. These two movies combined should go for more than Rs 150 crore. Rs 130 crore is really less considering it’s doing great at the box office.”

Another user speculated, “It’s a Jio film. They aren’t going to sign away the rights to Netflix completely. It’s probably a staggered release—Netflix first and Jio a few months later—or Netflix gets it only for a limited window. It’s definitely going to end up on Jio Hotstar eventually, and that should have factored into the price.”

Other comments echoed similar sentiments: “It’s a Jio film, so I’m assuming Netflix gets the rights for a year or two to build hype for Part 2, after which it moves to Hotstar,” and “I feel like it’s less for two movies, especially for such a one-of-a-kind film.” Another user pointed out, “The Netflix logo appears at the beginning of the movie. The same happened with Haq. There was news earlier that Dhurandhar will stream on Netflix by the end of January 2026.”

Amid the debate, a new report has surfaced claiming that the OTT deal was actually locked for a much higher amount—reportedly Rs 285 crore.

According to trade sources, if this figure holds true, Dhurandhar would set a new benchmark as the biggest Netflix deal ever for a Hindi film, surpassing Pushpa 2: The Rule, which reportedly sold its OTT rights for around Rs 275 crore. However, since the deal allegedly includes two films, the record may technically remain untouched.

As of now, neither the makers nor Netflix have officially confirmed the deal.

Opening at Rs 28 crore, Dhurandhar witnessed a massive surge in its second week, driven by strong word of mouth. The film earned over Rs 53 crore and Rs 58 crore on its second Saturday and Sunday, compared to Rs 32 crore and Rs 43 crore during its first weekend. With each passing day, it shattered multiple records and, within three weeks, surpassed the lifetime collection of Kantara Chapter 1 to emerge as the highest-grossing Indian film of the year.

The film is now eyeing the lifetime collections of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan (Rs 1,160 crore) and SS Rajamouli’s RRR (Rs 1,230 crore). It remains to be seen whether Dhurandhar can enter the elite Rs 1,700 crore club alongside Baahubali 2, Pushpa 2, and Dangal.

Starring Ranveer Singh in the lead, the film also features Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi, and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles. The sequel is slated for release on March 19.
