This isn't the first time Céline has spoken out about René's 2016 passing. Shortly after the tragedy, the "My Heart Will Go On" singer got candid about the complicated emotions she felt during his final days.

"I'm 48 years old and I lost the love of my life," she told People in 2016. "I miss him a lot from when he was great but not when he was suffering. I cannot be selfish. You have to let people go. I feel at peace."

Indeed, René's health had been in decline for several years before his death. In fact, in 2014, Céline canceled her Las Vegas residency to take care of her husband. Two years later, she canceled another string of shows at Las Vegas' Caesars Palace to mourn his passing.

"You see your husband suffer for three years, and it's not what you want to see," Céline told People. "So now I know he is well, and we live with him in a different way. And I see him through the eyes of my children every single day."
