Once the ride begins, the UK vlogger's anxiety becomes obvious (Image source: @amanitravell/Instagram)
A British travel vlogger has caught the internet’s eye with a post on what he described as a “wild ride” on an amusement attraction in India. In an Instagram Reel, Amani said that the experience left him both stunned and frightened because of the lack of basic safety measures.
In the viral video, Amani, seated on a swing ship ride, highlights that there are no safety belts or harnesses. “I only paid one dollar for this ride, so I don’t know how safe it’s going to be,” he says.
As the ride is about to begin, he says, “It’s chaos.” Before the boat starts swinging, Amani goes on to chat with an Indian man seated next to him. He explains, “I’m from England. I’m very scared right now.” He repeatedly points out the lack of protection, saying, “We have no safety,” and adds, while gesturing around him, “No harness at all. I could jump out if I wanted to.”
Once the ride begins, his anxiety becomes obvious. Gripping a metal bar and pushing his feet against the floor, he shares, “Look, when I go up, I’m just holding on with this and my feet.”
As the swing ship climbs higher, his nervous laughter turns into panicked shouting while the ride rocks back and forth.
Trying to inject some humour into the situation, he asks his seatmate, “You feel it in your boot, man?” When the ride finally stops, Amani lets out a deep breath and says, “That was the most stress I’ve ever been through. I’ve never been through that much stress in my life, guys.”
However, he says he made it through safely, telling his audience, “I’m in one piece. We did it, brother.” He ends the video by showing the ride once more, saying, “Look at this drop. No safety.”
The video has sparked a wave of reactions. “No safety harness, gives more thrill,” an Instagram user wrote. “We used to stand at top and hang and balance ourselves for more fun,” another user commented.
“I have a crazy tip for these boat rides, always look up when the boat goes up from your side, and you won’t feel the tightness in the stomach and do not look in front of u no matter what, it just increases the feeling. Learnt it through the thrill,” a third user reacted.
