Venezuelan soldiers were overwhelmed by US technology deployed during President Nicolas Maduro's capture as revealed by a witness account shared by the White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on X. Framed as an interview, the account claims to be one of Venezuelan security guard loyal to Nicolás Maduro.

The purported Venezuelan guard recollected 3 January 2026 raid of US special forces which removed Nicolas Maduro from power and said, “We were hundreds, but we had no chance. They were shooting with such precision and speed.”

The eyewitness called it a “massacre” while describing in detail the happenings of the tragic day that brought Venezuelan soldiers to their knees. The Venezuelan forces were caught off guard when their radar systems were shut suddenly without any warning. The next thing that happened was drones invading the territory with nearly eight helicopters engirting the Venezuelan security forces.

Recounting the sudden and overpowering attack, the guard said, “From those helicopters, soldiers came down, but a very small number. Maybe twenty men. But those men were technologically very advanced. They didn't look like anything we've fought against before.”

The first-hand account of the US raid further notes, “They launched something—I don't know how to describe it... it was like a very intense sound wave. Suddenly I felt like my head was exploding from the inside.” Claiming that the sonic weapon used in the dramatic raid still haunts him, he said that nearly twenty men open fired “300 rounds per minute” killings hundreds “without a single casualty.”

He alleged that the technologically advanced US invaders gave Venezuelan forces no time to react and said, “They didn’t look like anything we’ve fought against before. We were hundreds, but we had no chance.”

Details of the operation reported by BBC suggest that around 150 aircraft were involved in the mission. The helicopters that encircled Maduro's compound flew only a hundred or so feet above the terrain. The mission led by Donald Trump administration involved months of planning and intelligence gathering to allegedly destroy Venezuelan air defence units, such as Russian-made S-300V and Buk-M2 missile systems, in addition to Chinese air defence system JY-27A.
