Blue Tokai’s FY25 Loss Narrows 20% To INR 50 Cr

Meanwhile, Blue Tokai’s operating revenue crossed the INR 300 Cr mark during the year under review, surging 1.5X to INR 325.4 Cr from INR 215.8 in FY24

Including other income of INR 7.3 Cr, total income rose 50.5% YoY to INR 221.1 Cr.

Founded in 2013 by Matt Chitharanjan, Shivam Shahi and Namrata Asthana, Blue Tokai operates four roasteries and over 100 physical outlets across Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, among others. It also operates internationally with outlets in Tokyo, Japan and Dubai, UAE.

Since its inception, the Delhi NCR-based startup has raised a total funding of over $97 Mn from investors like Verlinvest, Anicut Capital, 12 Flags, A91 Partners, among others.

Blue Tokai competes with the likes of Third Wave Coffee Roasters, SLAY Coffee, Rage Coffee, and Sleepy Owl in the rapidly growing specialty coffee market space.

Employee Benefit Expenses: Employee costs, which include gratuity, salaries, PF, among others, jumped 12.6% to INR 94.5 Cr from INR 83.9 Cr in FY24.

Cost Of Materials Consumed: This was the largest spending head, accounting for 27.2% of the overall expenses at INR 104.6 Cr. It grew 19.5% from INR 87.6 Cr in the previous year.

Rent: Blue Tokai’s rent costs stood at INR 55.2 Cr in FY25, up 67% from INR 33 Cr in FY24. It accounted for 14.3% of the total expenses.
