Police said investigations are underway in both cases.

Two men died in separate road accidents in South and South-East Delhi over a span of two days, with police registering cases under sections related to rash and negligent driving based on eyewitness statements.

In the first incident, 28-year-old Tushar Kumar died on the night of January 10 after his motorcycle skidded into a ditch near Shri Ram Chowk in Madanpur Khadar. According to a statement given in Kalindi Kunj police station by his friend Sudhakar Singh, a pharmacist who runs a medical store in the nearby JJ Colony, the two were searching for a missing relative on a motorcycle when the freak accident occurred.

“Around 10:30 pm I closed the medical store and met my friend Tushar Kumar outside…I told Tushar that my cousin, Udham, had left the house after a fight…Both of us searched for him in Samosa Chowk, Bablu Dairy Saturday Market, and then Shree Ram Chowk in the open field down towards the Yamuna. When we went a little further, we found 4-5 dogs there, and they started running towards us. Tushar accelerated his motorcycle to escape…The motorcycle’s lights weren’t working, and he hit a mound of mud, skidded and fell into a ditch. I landed on both hands, and Tushar Kumar’s forehead got hit. I got up and saw that blood was coming from his mouth,” wrote Singh in the FIR.

A call from Tushar’s sister came soon after, and Singh informed her about the accident. Tushar’s family reached the spot and rushed him to Holy Family Hospital nearby, where he was declared dead. Singh, who had injuries on both hands, later underwent a medico-legal examination at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital after being directed by Kalindi Kunj police.

Two days later, on Tuesday evening, 58-year-old Fakeer Khan was killed in a separate accident involving a tractor-tanker on Tigri Road. According to a statement given by his 28-year-old son, Khan was struck by the water tanker while crossing the road.

The son told police that he received a phone call around 7.30 pm informing him that his father had been hit and was trapped under the vehicle. When he reached the spot, locals were pulling Fakeer Khan from under the tyre. He alleged that the tractor, was moved away from the scene by its owner, identified as Santosh, even as they were trying to put the injured man into an auto-rickshaw.

Fakeer Khan was taken to Safdarjung Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. His family later called the police from the hospital and sought legal action against the driver for rash and negligent driving.
