Jana Nayagan Movie Release Date Postponed Live Updates: Vijay's film was postponed on Wednesday.

Jana Nayagan Movie Release Date Postponed Live Updates: Vijay-starrer Jana Nayagan’s release, which was scheduled for January 9, has been postponed. On Wednesday evening, the production house backing the film, KVN Productions, made this announcement via social media and said that they were going to have to postpone the release “due to unavoidable circumstances beyond our control.” The announcement from the production house came hours after the Madras High Court reserved its order on a petition challenging the CBFC’s decision to withhold the censor certificate of the film.

After the arguments made in court on Wednesday, the court said that the verdict could only be announced on January 9, the day when the film was scheduled to release across 5,000 screens all across the world. The court was told that the certificate from CBFC had been withheld after a dissenting member of the examining committee submitted a complaint to the CBFC chairman. The remaining four members of the committee recommended that the film be granted a U/A 16+ certificate. The member claimed that their objections had not been appropriately addressed before this decision was made, and so, the decision was referred to the revising committee.

Jana Nayagan is being touted as Vijay’s last film as the actor is planning to enter politics with his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). An audio launch for the film was held in Malaysia a few weeks ago. Directed by H Vinoth, the film also stars Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol.

The film was releasing on the Pongal weekend, which is traditionally seen as the biggest weekend for Tamil cinema. Parasakthi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, is now the solo Tamil release on January 9. The film will also witness some competition from Prabhas-starrer The Raja Saab.
