Expressing satisfaction over the Special Investigation Team’s (SIT) investigation into the Sabarimala gold theft case, the State executive meeting of the Communist Party of India (CPI) held here on Saturday observed that the malicious campaign unleashed by the United Democratic Front (UDF) and BJP lost its meaning with the arrest of the Sabarimala senior Tantri (chief priest) on Friday.

The meeting held the view that the investigation should bring forth all the truths related to the scam without the interference of any extraneous forces.

The party said the State government has fully cooperated with the investigation, and those who tried to steal the wealth of the temple should be treated as culprits. It said the recently concluded local body elections and the results have emboldened the UDF to take forward its unholy nexus it forged with the communal outfits like Jamaat-e-Islami and SDPI. The UDF’s act of staying politically subservient to communal forces to remain in power is against the ethos of the Gandhi-Nehru traditions followed by the Congress party, it added.

The party said it was its political responsibility to protect the rights of the minority communities. It added that the BJP-RSS government has been throwing all the federal principles to the winds to subjugate the Left government in Kerala for the last 10 years.

The executive meeting also urged the party workers to make the strike to be attended by the Chief Minister, Ministers, MPs, and MLAs on January 22 in protest against the financial siege by the Centre a great success in Kerala.

Ahead of the ensuing assembly elections, the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) is launching its Statewide march as part of highlighting its achievements in the last 10 years, while emphasising the need to have stable governance.

The meeting also urged the party workers to be a part of the ‘Vikasana Munnetta Jatha’ to be led by the LDF and make it a grand success. T.J. Anjalose presided over the meeting, while CPI State secretary Binoy Viswam presented the political report.
