Kim Kardashian’s early job experiences did not include modeling or running a successful shapewear brand. In conversation with Graham Norton, the SKIMS founder opened up about how she spent her childhood dog walking for Madonna.
Sharing how she was neighbours with Madonna, she said, “I would walk her dog, when I was 8 years old and she would pay me in..remember those jelly neon rubber bracelets? She paid me in those. She handed them to me in a shoe box, and I went to school and all my friends went, ‘Oh my god, that’s so cool, where did you get that?’ And I was like, ‘Madonna gave it to me’.”
Recently, when Madonna asked her if she still had those bracelets, Kardashian replied, ‘No, I don’t know what I did with them’. To that, Madonna said, ‘You lost the coolest thing in the world’ and I was like, ‘How could I have given away Madonna’s bracelets? I wish I still had them’.”
Different dogs have different needs. Some dogs prefer long walks, or a strenuous game of fetch. A one-year-old dog might love going for a big walk, but a 12-year-old dog with arthritis may find that painful. Some dogs love chasing balls, and others would rather watch grass grow. Countries around the world are taking more notice of the needs of dogs. In Germany, the law requires owners to walk their dogs twice a day for at least an hour each time. Swedish rules require that “dogs must have their need for social contact satisfied”.

Dr Umesh Kallahalli, senior veterinarian, MARS Petcare, India recommended scheduling daily walks for early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler. “Pavements can retain heat well after sunset, posing a risk of paw burns and contributing to overheating and dehydration. Make sure to take breaks from playtime in the shade to prevent over-excitement in your pets. Keep a portable water bowl nearby to ensure they remain hydrated,” he said.
Dr Gautam Anand, senior veterinary consultant at Dr Anand’s Pet Clinic, Delhi, said that the best time to take your pet out in severe air quality is early in the morning. “There is less traffic, almost no factory pollution, and considerably less noise pollution to discomfort the animals at that hour,” he told indianexpress.com.
Make sure your pets wear masks when you take them for walks, and if feasible, bring them in a closed vehicle, he said, adding that pet owners are encouraged to take their animals out while fully clothed. “Light clothing can protect their skin from dust and grime. After outdoor activities, clean their paws with wet wipes and apply paw butter to keep them moisturised and infection-free,” he shared.
