Daisy Shah, who co-starred with Salman Khan in Jai Ho, recently criticised members of a political party after a local election campaign allegedly caused a fire in a residential apartment. In two videos shared on Instagram, Shah described the incident and posted footage showing how the fire intensified after a firecracker set off by election campaigners entered a neighbouring flat.
Sharing glimpses of the fire, an angry Daisy Shah said that around 200 people were campaigning for the elections when a firecracker set off by them entered the apartment, triggering the blaze. She further said, “This is done by stupid people; they have been campaigning door to door. Where is people’s civic sense? They burst rockets just because an election is happening in Bandra East. Those people who caused this fire have run away. There were around 200 of them, all have disappeared. My house is right next to this, so I had to get out. They don’t even realize that older people also live in the premises. The fire is getting worse.”
Daisy captioned the video, “I have got nothing to do with any political party!!! But when you hire teams to run campaigns for your elections, please make sure they have some common sense in them. Thankfully, our building committee refused their request to go door to door. Bursting crackers next to the buildings is not the way to go about it. This is what happens when people lack civic sense. It ain’t a natural calamity, it’s caused by brainless people. TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY … IT’S HIGH TIME.”
Later, Daisy Shah posted another video elaborating on what happened, and said, “I understand that it’s election time and people are running campaigns. But where is the rule that they have to burst firecrackers while campaigning. Who bursts crackers outside a building gate? Every building gave them permission to enter the premises and go campaigning door to door, but our building committee denied them permission. Every building they enter, they burst firecrackers. The fire is out now, but that house belongs to a civil servant. There was nobody in the house, which is why they couldn’t control the fire; that’s why it escalated. No one is stopping you from bursting crackers, do it in an open ground. I named a political party (BJP) so that accountability is taken, step into it, and come to a conclusion because that poor guy has lost his house. I have nothing to do with politics and won’t have anything to do with it in the future. I am a citizen, and I am raising my voice for something wrong. I am all heart for those who wish good for their country.”
On the work front, Daisy Shah was last seen in the music video “Bairagiya” released in December.
