With this pledge of Rs 100 Crore towards their alma mater, Class of the Millennium proposes to support the establishment of ‘Millennium School of Technology and Society’ (MSTAS) at IIT Kanpur.
The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K) Class of 2000 has announced a pledge of Rs 100 crore to their alma mater during their Silver Jubilee Reunion held on campus. This is the highest ever pledge by any batch across all academic institutions in India, as per a statement by IIT-Kanpur.
Prof Manindra Agrawal, director, IIT Kanpur, said, “This remarkable pledge of Rs 100 crore by the Class of 2000 is an affirmation of the enduring bond between IIT Kanpur and its alumni. Such collective giving not only strengthens our academic and research ecosystem but also inspires future generations to give back to the institution that shaped them.”
Prof. Amey Karkare, Dean of Resources & Alumni, IIT Kanpur, added, “This pledge exemplifies the spirit of partnership that defines IIT Kanpur’s alumni community. The Class of 2000 has demonstrated how alumni engagement can translate into transformative impact for students, faculty, and society at large. We are deeply grateful for their leadership and vision.”
Additionally, in the same reunion, the Class of 1986 has pledged a collective Rs 11 crore to support three legacy projects on campus. The reunion was held from December 18 to 21.
The funds will be directed towards three initiatives designed to enhance student life and community wellbeing: the SAC Extension Auditorium, the Centre for Mental Health and Wellbeing, and a Tower in the New Hall of Residence.
Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K) has concluded its phase one of the campus placements for the 2025–26 graduating batch. Hiring was conducted in on-campus, virtual, and hybrid modes to maximise accessibility for recruiters and students. This phase saw participation from over 250 organisations across diverse sectors, extending a total of 1,202 offers. Students accepted 1,079 of these offers, which include pre-placement offers.
