Ikkis box office collection Day 2: The film earned Rs 3.5 crore.
Ikkis box office collection Day 2: The year 2026 has opened with filmmaker Sriram Raghavan stepping into the war genre for the first time with Ikkis, a biographical drama that chronicles the life of India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee, Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal. Starring Agastya Nanda in the lead, alongside Dharmendra (in his final outing) and Jaideep Ahlawat, Ikkis released in theatres on January 1 and began its box office journey on a promising note. On its opening day, the film collected Rs 7 crore. However, according to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film witnessed a sharp dip on Day 2, registering an almost 50% decline in collections. The second day ended with earnings of Rs 3.5 crore, taking the film’s total domestic net collection to Rs 10.5 crore.
While a drop in numbers was largely anticipated, given that the second day was a working day, the overall occupancy figures reflected a fairly modest turnout. On Day 2, Ikkis recorded an overall occupancy of 14.72%. Morning shows opened to a subdued 5.75%, which more than doubled to 14.73% during the afternoon. However, growth plateaued thereafter, with evening shows recording an occupancy of 18.06%, followed by 20.33% during the night shows. Region-wise, the film had the highest number of shows in the Delhi-NCR circuit, (652) and an average occupancy of 17%. Mumbai followed with 424 shows, registering an occupancy of 14.25%. The film has over 2400 shows, as opposed to Dhurandhar’s 3800 shows.
When viewed in comparison to the last Hindi war film released, 120 Bahadur, Ikkis has performed considerably better. The Farhan Akhtar-starrer managed to collect only Rs 6.1 crore in its first two days, (a figure lower than Ikkis’ opening day alone). However, the film lags significantly behind Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force, which released in January last year and amassed over Rs 34.25 crore within its first two days. That said, Ikkis has outperformed Sriram Raghavan’s previous releases. His last film, Merry Christmas, earned Rs 5.9 crore in its first two days, while Andhadhun had collected Rs 7.4 crore during the same period.
Despite receiving positive reviews and benefiting from decent word of mouth, Ikkis faces stiff competition at the box office. Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar, now nearing a month in theatres, continues to perform strongly and collected Rs 8.75 crore on its 29th day, inching closer to the massive Rs 750 crore domestic milestone. Additionally, James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash is entering its third week and has maintained steady momentum, earning Rs 163.05 crore so far. Amid increasing competition from two giant blockbusters, the coming weekend will be crucial in determining whether Ikkis can sustain its run and build further momentum at the box office.
