'No strategic oil reserves like India': Pakistan minister admits vulnerability as fuel crisis deepens

Pakistan has admitted its vulnerability to the ongoing global oil shock saying the country lacks "strategic oil reserves like India" that have helped New Delhi cushion the impact of soaring crude prices triggered by tensions in the Middle East. The remark comes as oil prices surged to $126 per barrel, the highest since 2022, amid disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. We are not like India which has 60-70 days of reserves and can release it with just a single signature," he said.

JD Vance-led US delegation lands in Pakistan for high-stakes ceasefire talks with Iran

Iran’s parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said talks could not proceed without commitments on Lebanon and the unblocking of Iranian assets. CEASEFIRE HOLDS, BUT TENSIONS PERSIST The talks follow a two-week ceasefire announced earlier this week, halting US and Israeli strikes on Iran. Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon on Friday killed 13 members of the country’s state security forces, while Hezbollah responded with rocket fire towards northern Israel.

Pakistan's Asim Munir meets Saudi defence minister: Is 'Islamic Nato' in play?

Pakistan army chief and the country’s de facto leader Asim Munir has met Saudi Arabia’s defence minister Khalid bin Salman amid the constantly evolving situation in the Middle East. The meeting comes days after Saudi Arabia’s Aramco oil refinery was hit and after US-Israel joint strikes killed Iran's Ali Khamenei, triggering Tehran to launch strong retaliatory military actions across the Middle East region and raising fears of a wider regional conflict. The pact, initially signed by Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in September, reportedly states that “any aggression” against one member would be treated as an attack on all, a provision similar to Article 5 of Nato, under which member states commit to collective defence.
