The ‘Dravidian Model’ government 2.0 will definitely be formed after the 2026 Assembly election, backed by “women power”, and featuring progressive schemes with improvements over the existing ones in the manifesto, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin said at Palladam in Tiruppur district on Monday (December 29, 2025).

The State government’s Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai Thittam,  Pudhumai Penn, Vidiyal Payanam, and other impactful schemes were formulated on the premise that women’s progress was the basis for the State’s socio-economic development, Mr. Stalin said, speaking at the party’s west zone women’s conference, titled ‘Vellum Tamil Pengal’.

The DMK’s election manifesto will have new schemes devised under the leadership of the party’s deputy general secretary and Parliamentary Party leader, Kanimozhi, the Chief Minister told the gathering. He also appreciated the organisational acumen of former Minister Senthilbalaji, the DMK’s west zone in-charge for the Assembly election.

Door-to-door campaign by women workers, Mr. Stalin believed, would be instrumental in the DMK’s consecutive victory. “Be it equal inheritance rights or opportunities for educational uplift, the DMK  government had set a model that was eventually emulated by the rest of the country,” he said.

Mr. Stalin called the BJP government at the Centre “anti-women”, citing its modification and renaming of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) that, he said, was of utmost utility to women. He ridiculed AIADMK general secretary Edappadi  K. Palaniswami for “slavishly” toeing the line of the Union government.

While the DMK had already charted the path for reservation for women in the local bodies, the Union government was obstructing the prompt implementation of the Women’s Reservation Act. He described the enactment as “operation success, patient dead”.

Presiding over the conference, Ms. Kanimozhi said the DMK had been a harbinger of women’s rights since its inception, and the entire country was looking up to Mr. Stalin for taking on the “fascist” BJP government.

Neither the BJP nor its “old or new slaves” would be allowed to foment communal discord in Tamil Nadu, Deputy Chief Minister and DMK Youth Wing secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin said in his address.
