The Great Indian Kapil Show is back with a new season, and this time, the first episode was graced by Priyanka Chopra. Now, the makers have unveiled the promo for the next episode, where the Indian women’s cricket team is being celebrated after their historic World Cup win last month. The episode will feature Harmanpreet Kaur, Richa Ghosh, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Renuka Singh, Harleen Deol, Radha Yadav, Pratika Rawal, along with Head Coach Amol Mazumdar. The only notable absentee was Smriti Mandhana.
In the promo, Kapil asks skipper Harmanpreet Kaur about the bhangra moves she performed before lifting the trophy and reveals that it was Smriti Mandhana who urged her to dance. Jemimah recalls, “Harry didi hum logon ki baat nahi sunti hai. Par Smriti ne bola tha ki agar bhangra nahi kiya toh main baat nahi karungi life bhar” (Harry didi anyways dont listen to us. But Smriti had said that if I didn’t do the Bhangra, she wouldn’t talk to me for life).
Kapil also took the opportunity to ask about the injury Pratika suffered. As she replied with a stoic expression, Kapil, in his witty style, quipped, “Haan toh gussa kyun kar rahi ho, maine toh aise hi poocha” (Why are you angry? I just asked casually). Later, Kapil slipped into matchmaker mode, questioning Renuka Singh about her ‘ideal boy’.
Recently, Kapil Sharma’s show faced some legal troubles. According to Mid-Day, PPL (Phonographic Performance Limited) filed a commercial intellectual property suit on December 12 over alleged copyright infringement for the unauthorized use of songs in three episodes. PPL India has petitioned the Bombay High Court to bar the show’s producers from using its copyrighted sound recordings without a proper license, to compel the disclosure of any revenue earned from their alleged unauthorized use, and to appoint a court receiver to seize the infringing material.
The new episode, which streams on Netflix on December 27 at 8 PM, also features Sunil Grover and Krushna Abhishek as Karan and Arjun, with Kiku Sharda as Filmy Maa, adding to further chaos and madness.
