Lieutenant General K S Mann (Retd) passed away in a hit-and-run accident in Haryana on Saturday. He was also the Colonel of the Bihar Regiment for a number of years in the 1990s.
K S Mann had been found injured on the roadside near his house in Mansa Devi Complex, Sector 4, Panchkula, by passersby on Friday evening. Police officers said he was on his evening walk when an unknown vehicle hit him. K S Mann was taken to Command Hospital Western Command, Chandimandir, where he passed away on Saturday.
K S Mann was the brother of the late Brigadier Sukhi Mann, a legendary officer of the Parachute Regiment.
He is survived by his wife and two sons, one of whom is a Colonel in the Indian Army, while the other serves in the Canadian Police.
Sub-Inspector Sukhwinder, Acting Station House Officer, Mansa Devi Complex (MDC), said over the phone, “We are waiting for one of his sons to return… after which the post-mortem will be conducted.”
Sukhwinder said the police are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas, as the stretch where the accident occurred does not have CCTV cameras.

“Further investigations are on,” he added.

Major R S Virk (Lally) said he was shocked at the news. “I am deeply saddened to hear about the tragic passing of Lt Gen Mann. As a fellow golfer who shared many memorable moments with him on the course, his loss leaves a profound void in our community. His camaraderie, skill with a club, and unwavering spirit were truly inspiring. We will dearly miss him.” He further said.
