Union Home Minister Amit Shah Sunday hit out at Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi stating a party won’t get votes if it opposes everything people like. Instead of understanding peoples’ issues, the Congress leader is trying to decode the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) which “is not his job”, Shah said. Referring to a recent remark of the Congress leader in the Lok Sabha, Shah said Gandhi should not “get tired of losing” because the “Congress will definitely lose the upcoming Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal” and that the BJP will form government at the Centre again in 2029.
The Union Minister was speaking after handing over ownership certificates to 173 beneficiaries and inaugurating the Western Trunk Line project at Nava Vanzar village in Ahmedabad.
Citing the examples of the two development projects in Ahmedabad, the Union Minister said: “During a recent debate in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi asked me a strange question: ‘Why does only his party lose elections every time’. Instead of asking people, he asked me. Rahul Baba, you will get the answer if you understand these two initiatives that I have launched here.”
“Rahul Gandhi, rather than understanding this, is trying to decode the SIR which is not his job. Rahul Baba do not get tired of losing, you will lose in Bengal and Tamil Nadu. In 2029, the BJP under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership will form the government again. The reason is the principles of BJP with which people are connected,” he claimed.
Shah said a party won’t get votes if it opposes everything people like. “We built Ram Mandir but you (Congress) protested and you protested surgical strike on Pakistan, air strike, removing Bangladeshi infiltrators, new temple of Kashi, Article 370 abrogation, Act against triple talaq and Uniform Civil Code. How will you get votes if you oppose what people like? But, it is beyond my capacity to make Rahul Baba understand such a simple logic because even people from the Congress have failed to make him understand it,” said Shah.
Shah inaugurated various development projects worth Rs 330 crore in Ahmedabad, unveiled an idol of Lord Ganesh and distributed ownership certificates to the rehabilitated residents of Nava Vanzar village. Western Trunk Main Line Project, an important initiative for the western and south-western areas of Ahmedabad, was also inaugurated.
“There was no proper system of sewage disposal available for about 15 lakh citizens of south-west Ahmedabad. During the year 2000 to 2005, the areas from Shela to Chandkheda were rapidly urbanised, but developing a complete drainage system required substantial financial resources and a long period of time. As a Member of Parliament, I was deeply concerned to see sewage overflowing over 2.5 feet in certain areas. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urban development schemes including AMRUT Yojana have been extensively used to create an environment where people can live a better and healthy life. At an estimated cost of around Rs 400 crore, large RCC pipelines have been laid. As a result, nearly 15 lakh citizens across areas including Gota, Chandlodia, Science City, South Bopal, Bhadaj, Hebatpur, Thaltej, Bopal-Ghuma, Bodakdev, Vejalpur, Sarkhej, Maktampura, Mahmadpura, Fatehwadi, Shantipura and Sanathal will get a permanent solution to drainage overflow and wastewater problems,” Shah said.
“Citizens who lost everything in the Sabarmati flood tragedy of 1973 have today, after 50 years, received the right to ownership of plots. In a large city like Ahmedabad, 173 beneficiaries may seem few in number, but for them this moment is extremely historic and emotional,” Shah said.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said the ownership certificates given to the citizens of Vanzar village reflect the belief that a true public servant understands people’s suffering. He added that the urban development budget has been increased by 40 per cent to Rs 30,000 crore. As Ahmedabad prepares to host several international sports events, the CM urged citizens to collectively work towards making the city clean, beautiful and green.
Addressing a gathering at Vishv Umiya Dham in Jaspur, Ahmedabad, Shah said that the Patidar community has made a very significant contribution to making India a world leader. He inaugurated the Youth Business Summit of Patidar community at Vishva Umiya Dham and launched the VUF Business Network mobile application created for young entrepreneurs of Patidar community.
Later in the evening, Shah opened Namotsav, a mega musical multimedia show based on the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at Sanskar Dham in Ghuma. To remain open to the public for three days, the show has participation of 150 artists.
Shah also addressed a public gathering on the occasion. Quoting Shah, an official release stated, “Namotsav is not just a cultural programme, but a journey of India’s self confidence, resolve and values. In a short span of 11 years, PM Modi established strong confidence in the hearts of 140 crore Indians that India will become number one country in the world.”
Shah said that PM Modi is an extraordinary personality who created his destiny through his intentions. He also said that 29 countries of the world have conferred their highest civilian award on PM Modi. Shah spoke on a range of issues and decisions taken by PM Modi in his public life.
