Not to mention, of course, a new duet partner in Song Sung Blue costar Hugh Jackman, who plays her onscreen husband in the biopic about the Neil Diamond cover band Lightning & Thunder.
Though her mom and stepdad as well as partner Danny were on-hand for the film’s New York City premiere in early December, just days before Christmas, Kate’s brothers Oliver Hudson, 49, Wyatt Russell, 39, and Wyatt’s wife Meredith Hagner, 38, joined in for a full Hudson-Russell movie night to screen Song Sung Blue for Neil in Aspen.
And for Kate, being on this musical ride has meant everything.
"Music has always been what moves me the most," the Running Point star explained to E! News in October. "Playing a musician and being able to play a piano—it was just actually utilizing what I love so much. I haven't really been able to do it that like [I did] in this movie."

Rio's had Goldie's photogenic head tilt down to a science at the 20th anniversary celebration of the Goldie Hawn Foundation and MindUP Gala in 2024.
Forget saying cheese at the annual Goldie's Love In For Kids. Budding ballerina Rio, still a few months shy of 3 at the time, met the moment with a curtsy.
Kate celebrated her pop Kurt on Father's Day 2023 with a snap of him surrounded by grandkids.
