The National Testing will release the provisional answer keys for the UGC NET 2025 December session on January 15. In a notification released today, the Agency informed the candidates about the update on answer keys. The provisional answer keys can be checked at the official website–ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

The notification read, “Candidates are hereby informed that the provisional answer key(s), question paper, and recorded responses for the UGC-NET December 2025 Examination will be made available by 15 January 2026 on the official website of NTA, in the larger interest of candidates.”

With the display of the provisional answer keys, candidates will be able to raise a challenge to the answers that they deem incorrect. This can be done by matching the question and answer ID. The representations received by NTA during the notified period will be examined by subject experts, and the final answer key and results will be prepared accordingly.

Step 1: Visit the official website at ugcnet.nta.ac.in.

Step 2: Log in using credentials like application number, date of birth and Captcha code.

Step 3: Download the answer script provided by the NTA, and download your answer script also.

Step 4: Candidates have to match the answer script using the question ID provided.

Step 5: In case of objections, candidates will have to select the answer they find correct and have to attach a PDF for the evidence supporting their claim

Step 6: Once done, pay the fees and download the receipt.

After issuing the provisional answer keys, NTA gives two days to all the candidates to challenge and raise objections with a fee of Rs 200 per question. The challenge can be supported by documents in which a candidate can select and upload the file. Here is how aspirants can raise objections and download the answer keys.

The exam was conducted between December 31 and January 7, which saw the participation of  7,35,592 candidates. The attendance rate of the students also remained stable between 71 per cent to 75 per cent on all the UGC NET December 2025 exam days, according to data shared by the agency.

The UGC NET exam was conducted for 83 different subjects, including Hindi, English, French, Spanish, sociology, visual arts, mass communication and journalism and more. The question paper was in English and Hindi medium only except for the language papers and each question carried two marks. There was no negative marking for any wrong attempts.
