CM for more schools for girls in Phase I of YIIRS

Officials were instructed to ensure the completion of one school each for boys and girls in all the Assembly constituencies in the next three years, as part of the YIIRS planned by the government. Priority should be given to boys’ schools in constituencies where schools for girls are already functioning, the Chief Minister said at a review meeting with senior officials on the functioning of the Education Department on Thursday.

Directing the officials to take steps to provide quality breakfast and lunch to students, the Chief Minister wanted them to explore the possibility of taking up the construction of solar kitchens for YIIR schools under the PM KUSUM scheme. Steps should be taken for the timely release of bills pertaining to the construction of YIIRS, as well as the scope for expanding the supply of breakfast and lunch to all schools on the lines of the scheme being operational through NGOs in the schools in Kodangal constituency.

Representatives of Akshaya Patra Foundation assured that they could implement the scheme if the government provided them with adequate space and necessary support. The Chief Minister wanted the officials to set up one centralised kitchen each for every two assembly constituencies.

He directed the Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao to workout modalities for allocation of two acres land or entering into long term lease of 99 years in consultation with District Collectors and take a decision at the earliest.

Mr. Revanth Reddy wanted the buildings and other infrastructure pertaining to 23 schools planned in the GHMC limits to be ready before the next academic year. Referring to the syllabus, he wanted the officials to design courses in such a manner that they would suit the current as well as future needs.

He wanted to speed up work on the Veeranari Chakali Ilamma women's university. Recalling the understanding inked with Tata Technologies on infrastructure and new courses in polytechnic colleges, he instructed the officials to ensure that the deal became operational soon.
