The National Safety Council, Telangana Chapter, in collaboration with the Department of Factories, Government of Telangana, organised a one-day workshop on safety awareness for chemical factories on Monday (December 29) at Surana Auditorium of the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry. Around 120 delegates from chemical factories across Telangana participated in the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Secretary to Government, Labour, Employment, Training and Factories Department, M. Dana Kishore emphasised that human safety and plant safety were critical to achieving the goals of Rising Telangana 2047, as envisioned by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He said even small investments in safety systems could result in significant gains for the industry by improving production efficiency and worker well being. He stressed that the safety of workers was essential for the development of industry, society, the State and the nation.
The Principal Secretary also underlined the need to enhance the skill level of workers in factories and other sectors to move towards a developed Telangana. He advised the Department of Factories and other stakeholders to organise a week-long safety awareness campaign in the first week of March 2026. He added that worker safety would not be compromised and urged factory managements to adopt self regulation in safety practices.
Director of Factories, Telangana, Y. Mohan Babu, said that in line with the instructions of the Principal Secretary, the department has been conducting training programmes on a continuous basis. He said that during December 2025 alone, five training programmes were organised at different locations across the State to increase safety awareness among workers and management. He stressed the importance of safe handling of materials and proper maintenance of equipment, and requested participants to further train workers under their supervision.
Senior officers from the Department of Factories, V.V. Sasi Kumar, honorary secretary of the National Safety Council, Telangana Chapter, and expert faculty members from UNICEF, Hetero Drugs Limited, Aragen Life Sciences and 4S Techno Systems took part in the programme.
