In fact, this event marks the first time the pair—whose children were born in 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2024, but whose names haven’t been publicly revealed—have been seen together since their last public outing in July 2024. At the time, the duo attended back-to-back events in London and New York City for the premiere of his film Trap. Prior to that, they attended Vanity Fair’s Oscar party in March 2024.
But Josh has become accustomed to a more private life. The actor—who will next star in the upcoming movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s book Verity alongside Dakota Johnson and Anne Hathaway—left Hollywood in the mid-aughts, opting to live in the English countryside with his family as a way to keep a healthy boundary between his home and work life.
"Hollywood is more than a place,” he told People in July 2024. “It's like a state of mind. If you're around people who are constantly talking about the movie business, your life is going to be pretty much one note. And I've never wanted that."
Explaining that he’d rather be around people who “bring my mind off of my work and force me to grow in different directions,” Josh added, “To me, that's the spice of life."
But he still gives a glimpse into his family life every now and then. In fact, Josh shared some rare details about his children and the hilarious way they poke fun at him during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in May.
"My kids love to give me crap about being an American because I’m the only American in our house. I’m a foreigner in my own home,” he joked. “My middle one does a really good impersonation of me, [and] will just kind of turn to me and be like, ‘I’m Daddy, and I like pizza and I won’t mow the lawn.’ As American as it gets."
The roasting doesn’t stop there, as he went on to say, "My littlest daughter keeps telling me what it’s like to be English. She keeps saying to me, ‘You might not understand this Daddy, but in England we say boot instead of trunk of a car.' And I’m like, ‘I’ve lived here for longer than you. I made you!’"
Josh is just one of many stars who have decided to leave Hollywood for a quieter life. For more celebrities who opted for peace and privacy outside of L.A., keep reading.
