Key takeaways

  • The former Beatle announced a special live event in London, at the Roundhouse in Camden Town, set to take place next week (10 June).
  • Details are forthcoming, but we do know that a colourised version of the band’s aforementioned BBC Our World performance of ‘All You Need Is Love’ will be released for free on YouTube on 25 June.

Feel like celebrating all things Fab Four?

Technically, you can (and should) do that every day, but now fans have an official date...

The Beatles and Apple Corps Ltd, the British multimedia company established by the band in the 1960s, have announced official Global Beatles Day.

Set to be celebrated on 25 June, the date was chosen because on that day in 1967, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr walked into Studio One at London’s Abbey Road Studios and performed the first international satellite television broadcast of their beloved song ‘All You Need Is Love’. It reached an estimated 400 million people around the globe.

The date has been the unofficial commemoration day since 2009 and was the idea of lifelong Beatles fan Faith Cohen. But now, there’s formal acknowledgement...

Apple Corps CEO Tom Greene wrote to Cohen, praising the fan-led initiative that started it all.

“More than ever, the message of The Beatles, and of ‘All You Need Is Love’ speaks to something vital for community, connection, and the power of bringing people together,” he wrote. “That is what makes Global Beatles Day so special. It asks nothing more than for people, wherever they are, to stop, listen, and share a little joy.”

This year’s inaugural Global Beatles Day will feature online and in-person events around the world.

Details are forthcoming, but we do know that a colourised version of the band’s aforementioned BBC Our World performance of ‘All You Need Is Love’ will be released for free on YouTube on 25 June. This will mark the first time the iconic performance will be made available online.

Elsewhere, Paul McCartney released his new album, ‘The Boys Of Dungeon Lane’, last Friday.

The former Beatle announced a special live event in London, at the Roundhouse in Camden Town, set to take place next week (10 June).

“The audience will gain a rare, first-hand perspective on how ‘The Boys Of Dungeon Lane’ came to life, and hear the new music played amongst Paul’s stories,” a press release notes.

In Euronews Culture’s review of the album, which sees McCartney look to the past and re-live his pre-Beatles days, we wrote: “‘The Boys Of Dungeon Lane’ is a very comforting listen. Whether that’s because we consciously or unconsciously yearn for reassurance in troubled times could be one explanation; but it can’t be denied that the octogenarian has not lost his knack for a stellar pop hook, and his sepia-tinted vulnerability is poignant.”

We added: “It may not be a late-period masterpiece, but McCartney achieves what he sets out to do: unabashedly embrace the past, take a trip down its long and winding road, and delight in remembrance. All without toppling into maudlin territory.”

Global Beatles Day takes place on 25 June 2026.
