Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud said Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) had failed to respond to the allegations and statements being made by Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha, leading people to believe that large-scale corruption had taken place.
“When there is no counter from the BRS, the public naturally assumes that corruption has occurred. The BRS must respond to the criticisms being made by the former Chief Minister’s daughter,” he said. Reacting to speculation that Ms. Kavitha might join the Congress, he categorically denied the reports, calling them baseless.
Mr. Goud also cautioned that no one has the right to infringe upon personal freedom and said making unsubstantiated allegations against women officers without evidence is unacceptable.
In an informal interaction with the media, Mr. Mahesh Goud aimed at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) saying it lacks the strength to emerge as an influential force in the State. He accused it of repeatedly attempting to gain political mileage by exploiting religious sentiments. “For how long can the BJP seek public support by invoking Hindu sentiment,” he asked.
Emphasising that Congress leaders are equally religious, he said over 90% of the Congress members are Hindus who worship the same gods. “Gods should be respected as gods, not used as political tools,” he asserted.
Referring to administrative matters, he said Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy had clarified that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy does not interfere in the functioning of Ministers’ departments.
On the districts reorganisation carried out earlier by the BRS government, he said it was ‘unscientific and unprecedented anywhere in the country’. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was considering the formation of a committee to make corrections, while making it clear that there is no proposal to abolish districts.
On water-sharing issues, he asserted that there would be no compromise and no question of backing down. He further assured that in constituencies where party defections have taken place, Congress leaders would be protected from difficulties.
