"We will continue to gather information and will cooperate fully with the appropriate authorities and the NFL as necessary," the Patriots' statement continued. "Out of respect for all parties involved, and given that this is an ongoing legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time."

The charges against Stefon—who shares a newborn son with girlfriend Cardi B—stemmed from an incident that occurred Dec. 2, one day after the Patriots defeated the New York Giants in a 33-15 game, Boston25News.com reported.

Stefon's lawyer requested that the police report be impounded during a virtual court appearance Dec. 30, hoping to keep details of the incident sealed, per the local outlet.

He also revealed that his client made a financial offer to the alleged victim with the hope of settling the dispute out of court, saying in court, "As we speak, they’re working to come to an agreement on that."

During the hearing, the judge agreed to consider Stefon's request to have the report sealed, as well as a request to extend his arraignment date to March after the Super Bowl, per Boston25News.com.

News of the charges against Stefon come one day after Cardi defended their decision to spend Christmas apart.

“Y'all need to calm down,” the rapper said in a video shared to X on Dec. 29. “Is y'all cool? Y'all been dragging me for three or four days. Y'all become and y'all been a little bit too mean. I can't change s--t, I can't go back in time. I already had a baby.”

“I don't know what y'all want me to do," Cardi added. "We can only go forward now."

The "Bodak Yellow" hitmaker went on to emphasize the pressure she already feels balancing her personal and professional lives as she gears up to launch her tour in February.

“I'm already super stressed out,” she said. “I need my support system, my fans, to love me. I want you to come to my tour and enjoy yourself with me. Don't be dragging me. It's enough.”

"I want good for y'all,” Cardi concluded. “I want health, money, prosperity, happiness for this new year for y'all—wish me the same thing. All right, leave me alone though.”
